Description: |
Meissen head of a Balinese woman modelled in Boettger stoneware. First modelled by Willi Munch-Khe c.1930. This medium was first created by Boettger around 1710 when he was trying to discover the formula for true porcelain. Many early pieces of table ware were made in this medium and then polished. Interest in this medium was re-kindled in the 1920's and 1930's. Munch-Khe was employed by Meissen between 1925 and 1932 as a freelance artist. |
