Description: |
Meissen model of a Gray Cardinal. This bird is found in the south west of the United States and Mexico. First modelled by Paul Walther in 1917. The decoration uses the high fired enamel paints developed at Meissen towards the end of the nineteenth century. The tree stump is is highlighted with gold and the decoration of the leaves uses the normal over glaze painting. |
