Meissen figure of the night watchman from the series of 35 figures known as the Cries of Paris. They were based on the drawings by Christophe Huet (1700-1759). As well as lighting the streets the night watchman sold alcohol and cures for over imbibing. These figures were mostly modelled by P.Reinicke under the guidence of J.J.Kaendler c.1755. |
