Description:

Meissen group of a 'Hun on horseback'. The Huns were a nomadic race originating in central Asia which terrorised central Europe in the late fourth century and  early fifth century AD. Under the leadership of Attila they obtained vast monetary tribute from the Romans and devastated large parts of the Empire until his death  in 453 AD.

First modelled by Erich Hösel c. 1900. In 1903 Hösel was made manager of the design department at Meissen and from 1912 until his retirement in 1929 he was employed as director of design.
