Description: |
Meissen mandarin duck. First modelled by Max Esser in 1922. Esser worked mainly in bronze. His first designs for the Meissen factory date from 1919. From 1921 to 1926 he lived and worked in Meissen and was connected with the factory until 1931. He is regarded as one of the foremost German animal sculptors of his time.
