Description: |
One of the rarer and most sought after groups produced by Meissen at the beginning of the 20th century. 'North America' was modelled by Erich Hoesel in 1906. Hoesel was appointed director of the modelling department at Meissen in 1903. He had travelled widely in North America and this model shows the new vitality which he brought to the modelling department. The decoration uses the new high fired colours or 'Scharffeuerfarben' which had been recently developed at Meissen. |
