Meissen model of a tiger with its kill. This piece is wonderfully modelled. Every muscle and sinew is tensed as it guards its prey. Otto Jarl was a freelance artist who lived in Meissen in 1903 and 1904. He created a number of animal figures for the Manufactory, the large polar bear being one of the more well known. This model of the tiger is by far his most dramatic and powerful. The piece is signed Otto Jarl and dated 1903 on a rock under the tail of the tiger.
