Description: |
A pair of very rare Meissen figures of a farmer and his wife, first modelled by Paul Boener in 1920. From 1930 Boener was head of the painting and design departmantat Meissen. What is very unusual is that the female figure is a 'Urstuck'. In 1918 it was decided that the first 11 models of new sculptures of particular aethetic value 'will be made under the particular supervision and with the collaboration of the artist whose signature they will bear, and will be sold accordingly at a higher price'. Here the figure of the woman has P.B. impressed on the top of the base behind the figure, together with the signature Boener 1924 in brown script. - SOLD - |
